Sluis Cigar Machinery B.V. (SCM) is one of the main suppliers of
new, reconditioned and used machinery and parts to the cigar industry.
History The
history of SCM dates back to 1897, when ancestors founded a
cigarfactory in Kampen, a tobacco centre with over 100 cigarfactories
in those days. Besides the cigar production, the company emphasized
more and more on trade and overhaul of cigar machinery, resulting in
the company SCM is today. In 1967, the sister-company International
Tobacco Machinery (ITM) was founded, to specialise in the cigarette
industry. In 1995, SCM acquired Technical Development Corporation, TDC
AG, then based in Switzerland, and already one of the main suppliers to
the RYO-industry. TDC's specialism then was focused on the production
of new tobacco weighing machinery and can filling lines. In Kampen,
SCM already was active in the RYO-industry, and specialised in the
packing side, with overhauled pouch packers. When TDC's activities were
transferred to Kampen, all RYO activities were concentrated in TDC. SCM offers Turn Key projects. Machinery
for all ranges of cigars: from spi-wrapped cigarette like products to
semi handmade >20mm diameter long filler cigars. Primary processing plants for threshed filler. Rodmakers, from Low to High Speed range. Cigarmakers. Cigarfinishing equipment like individual banding and cellophaning machines. A
variety of packing machines, depending on packaging type, from
aluminium pouch to nutwood humidor boxes, from individually packed
cigars to 50 cigars per box. Flexibility With
its warehouses and the affiliate companies, SCM can satisfy virtually
any wish, from delivering a single spare part to a complete
production-line for new projects. An advantage of SCM’s stock of
used machinery is that urgent demands can be met in a very short time.
For those who have plans for new factories or major changes in their
existing plants, SCM can be of great help, as a consultant and as a
supplier. Services SCM offers a variety of services. SCM engineers can take care of installing the machinery and training the staff.
